Question Posted Saturday December 3 2005, 10:57 pm
I'm 13, and in 7th grade. I recently found out like half the girls in my grade wear thongs?!?! I thought this was a little young, is it normal? How could I ask my mom if I could start wearing them, I'm pretty embarresed to ask.

But if you're just going to wear them because everyone else is..or because you want to "flaunt" it, then that's just immature. Next time you're shopping just buy them & see what happens. If she doesn't approve, you can always do your own laundry.

hopeihelped answered Sunday December 4 2005, 1:32 am: Completely normal.. Some girls in my grade started in sixth. If I were you, I wouldn't ask your mother's opinion. Do your own laundry when she's not home, because she'll just get upset with you and think your a little slut. .. to put it nicely =) [ hopeihelped's advice column | Ask hopeihelped A Question ]
hco_babe answered Saturday December 3 2005, 11:53 pm: yes it's normal. if you don't want to ask her, just go buy some and then when it's time for her to wash your clothes or whatever she'll notice. or you could just say, "all the girls are wearing thongs i was wondering if we/i could go pick some up." x0blu3eyedbeautyx0 answered Saturday December 3 2005, 11:47 pm: Ya it's perfectly normal....I've been wearing them since I was 10...some people view them as a sexual thing and that;'s why people say.."Oh 10 is too young!", but they're really made so you don't have panty lines! Before you ask your mom, you should go out and buy one..or a couple and just casually say to your mom, "Oh, look I bought these really cute thongs today." If she gets mad tell her you didn't know it was bad to buy thongs and that you'd liek to wear them. Tell her you're the only one that doesn't wear them plus you hate panty lines. I'm sure she'll let you wear them, honestly it's not a big deal! Good luck! ♥ caitie [ x0blu3eyedbeautyx0's advice column | Ask x0blu3eyedbeautyx0 A Question ]

naimee answered Saturday December 3 2005, 11:37 pm: Hehe. Aww. Well this is actually ironic, because I just asked my mom tonight if I could start wearing thongs. :) It's normal for girls definitely around 13 to start wearing thongs, of course I think it's a little too young, but you know - whatever floats their boat? But of course everyone falls into peer preasure, like me :) Hehe. Well. Basically on my Xmas list, I wrote - Underwear ALL TYPES and emphasized the word ALL because I really wanted her to get the hint I want to wear thongs without telling her because it's embarassing. :)
Of course, I know how you feel. Then she said to my dad, I'm pretty sure she doesn't want those panties that go up her butt! & I go but, Mommmmmmmmmm everyone's wearing them, I'm 15!!! Then we had a convo about it, and she said she'll buy me some for Christmas. :) Hehe. I was super happy, because I was too scared to ask her for like the past 2 years. But honestly, just tell her the reasons you want to wear thongs. It'll be so much easier then keeping it in. [ naimee's advice column | Ask naimee A Question ]
