period

Question Posted Wednesday November 30 2005, 3:19 pm

my period is late by a few days which is really weird for me because i usually get it right on time. basketball season started up this month & i was wondering if it was because of that. my mom said that if you exercise a lot & you haven't exercised that much in awhile, that could be the reason. what are some other reasons?? idk if i should worry er not. i guess i should wait a few days & go to the doctor if i dont get it?? any ideas??

thanks!!

don't worry, it's normal to skip around a bit. I heard somewhere stress has something to do with it, but I dunno. Don't worry, I skipped a few months and I'm fine!

Don't worry, especially if you aren't sexually active. Just like your mom said, it could be because of that. Periods are irregular very often. I skip mine like months sometimes. I think it's a blessing to not get it, hah. It could be because of your diet too. Nothing to be worried about unless you don't get it for a few months.

Okay, your mom is wrong first off. You can exercise til your ass falls off onto the ground and will do nothing but make you tired. It cannot and does not affect your menstrual cycle.

I am not sure what would make it late but perhaps if you understood what each step of the cycle is/does you will figure it out. See www.scarleteen.com and read this [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) It's everything a girl needs to know about menstruation and why tings happen/don't happen when etc.

it probably is from playing basketball...usually people who play sports have an irregular menstral cycle. If you're not sexually active you shouldnt be pregnant so that isnt really the problem. Once my friend didnt have her period for 3 months but thats because shes an competative dancer. If you think you should go to the doctor than have your mom take you. Hope I helped :-)

ummm well honestly there really isnt any need to go to the doctor. when your under 20 or so your period cand come at any time even if it ususally is on time. just wait and it will come, soon enough.

Late.. meaning you got it? If it's just a few days late, don't worry about it. Sometimes, sudden exercise can actually cancel a period. Don't worry about it.

I don't think it's nothing to really worry about. I don't know your age but I'm assuming your probably a teen.

Everythign about periods is confusing, in my opinion. But periods usually aren't always on a permanant(sp?) schedule. It'll usually show up when you least expect it. It usually does. (With my experiance *sigh*)

But if it's something that's really bothering you, then maybe you should go to the doctor just so you know for sure what's going on.

Hope I helped! -Ce

Stress and increased/decreased excersize, weight loss, and not eating all contribute to not getting your period when you are expecting it. Have you made the team yet? If you haven't you are stressed about that... And you have been working hard with tryouts and whatnot. So yes, what your mom said is correct. And honestly, don't expect to get it. Let it come when it comes. There is no reason to see a doctor for this is 100% normal. Fencing season started this month for me and my period is late by two weeks almost. You definately don't need to worry. The only reason you SHOULD worry is if you are sexually active and have had sex recently, if you haven't.. There is nothing to worry about.
