FRIENDSHIPS

Question Posted Tuesday November 29 2005, 8:59 pm

14/f...i just met this new girl named Kate about 2 months ago. She has this whole group of friends that I've gotten to know a little. I've only actually went over Kate's house and that's it. Well she has been spending a lot of time with me lately and she says that some people are jealous of mine and her friendship and I feel really bad. And I have also been getting a vibe from every in her group that they don't like me very much...I don't know what to do. please help.

Don't feel bad, they are just jealous. Stay friends with Kate. Her friends are either going to have to accept your friendship or just ignore both of you together. But, whatever the case, you still get to be friends with Kate.

You continue with your friendship. If you and she are both happy with it her group have n reason not to be. It's up to Kate to make sure she spends enough time with them as well as you so as long as you're allowing her space you're doing nothing wrong.

Maybe try getting to know some of these other girls on a one to one basis too and show them it's not a case of you trying to "steal" their friend from them.

Woah, I totally understand what you mean. I hang out with a group of girls & I'm closer to one of them because she's the one who started talking to me first because I just moved. So, of course I'm going to hang out with her more just because she's the reason I have friends now. But, I try my best to make sure that they always are together. Like when we're walking, I'll make sure they are standing by each other, and I'll try not to interrupt when they are having a conversation. Because of course they were best friends first before I came along! Just try your best by letting them all talk to her first & stuff like that. Show that you aren't trying to keep them apart. (:
