Well first of all make sure your picture is in either .jpg .jpeg or .gif format. Right click on the picture and go to the properties and it should tell you. If it is a different format then you will need a program to change the file format with. If you have an image editing program (you can use MS Paint) then open your image with the program and click on 'Save As' below where you type the name of your image there will be a drop down box from which you can choose a file format to save it as. Just click the drop down box and choose either .jpeg .jpg or .gif

Secondly your picture maybe too large in size. Find out what the maximum image size is and look in your image properties and find out the size. If it is too large you might have to resize it. Again, using a program such as MS Paint or Adobe Photoshop open the image and on image size change it. Or you can drag the corners of the image and make it smaller that way. Then click save or Save As.

Finally, there will be a maximum file size. I think it is something like 600KB. Go on the image's properties and find out the size. If it is bigger than this then you might want to make the image's size smaller which will make the file size smaller.

i had a hard time too! .. well my friend told me about this thing you can download called "irfanview" & what you do is open the picture that you have saved on your computer. then you go to "image".. then resize/resample.. then you click the top thing that says "640 x 480 pixels" then "half" & ok.. then you should save that as a new name so you know which one to use((save as if you want)) & then when you go to myspace & go to browse, for pictures--then you click that & ta da! haha.. as for if it is the wrong type, i can't help you there! sorry!
