dudewearsurcar answered Saturday November 19 2005, 10:39 pm: ice just reduces the pain and swelling. abreva really helps if you want the cold sore to go away. also if you're willing to put out some money there's pills that you can get that helps clear up cold soars and fever blisters. the perscription is called valtrex. zilactin is another thing to use, it stings at first but helps it heal quicker. there is med. you can get from the doctor. they are pills, so when you get one you take one of those, and it goes away. (they give you a whole jar or however much it is of those and so you'll have a ton leftover for the next time you get one, then you'll always be ready) [ hco_babe's advice column | Ask hco_babe A Question ]

I use alum on mine. it is sour but they are gone by next day. It is a spice used for pickles. Found in spice aisle at grocery. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
