Pap Smear?

Question Posted Thursday November 17 2005, 2:37 pm

ok, i am 18 and a virgin. I am going to have sex for hte first time within the next month. My fiance and i are very dedicated to each other. But my freind told me i should get a PAP smear done before I have sex. My mom said i dont have to do it before my first time but i should do it soon. i dont want to go and get oen before we have sex b/c i want him to be the first one down there and everythign else. But what i am wondering is if they go to do it, and my cherry is still in tact...will they pop it? B/c i really want my fiance to do it...not some doctor. If anyoen could enlighten me on Pap smears and when i should get one nad if htye will pop my cherry if it is still intact, i would be grateful. I will rate every answer i get!

this might be too late, but your cherry has probably already been popped. it can be popped anytime, by doing every day things. that's what my doctor said!

Wow, that first answer is going to be hard to beat.

I know that when I went in for a Papy, they told me I didn't need one, because I wasn't 18 yet, nor had I had sex.

They say you should usually go and get a Pap test whenever you start having sex, or are thinking about it. (or in some cases, when you turn 18.

(this isn't coming personally,or from experiance, and I'm sorry that it hasn't. But I was affraid when I went in, and I asked all types of questions.)

While getting a pap smear doesn't hurt, it can be very uncomfertable. Especially with the 'duck bell'. The vagina is actually stretched more than when having sex. Causing a little discomfert.

If I were you, I'd get it done afterwords. That way, your fiance can be the 'special one'.

-Sorry if it doesn't help.
Good luck hon.

Hi,

I think this article will greatly help you. Your mother is right there really is little need unless something appears wrong/different with your vaginal area to go in before having sex unless needing birth control pills where you need a vaginal exam.

I think this Web site Scarleteen and their article on what to expect at your first exam will answer your questions about your hymen. Incidentally, these days stretching one's hymen can be done by masturbating or tampons and does not mean someone's any different while still not having had sex. It can hurt but not too much from what I know.

Here's that article. I hope it helps that site is a goldmine for info.
