Well, being a horror movie addict, I can tell you that most thrillers and horror movies are rated R, and even NC-17.
The only one I can really think of is The Ring, but that wasn't all that good.
If you are willing to watch any R rated once, I have a -lot- of recommendations.

the ring, white noise, boogeyman, scary movie 3, the darkness, the exorcism of emily rose, practical magic, the 6th sense, what lies beneath, the others, the glass house, the grude. (THESE ARE ALL PG-13!!) hope i helped.

to be honest with you i think one of them are but i am not sure which i know that scary movie 3 is R though. sorry if this doesnt help.
