there's this guy. my parents know his parents through baseball and our brothers are friends through baseball too. weve never really talked to each other i guess becuase weve never seen each other in school and were in two different groups of people. i mean i think we're both on the same popularity level, but dont have the same friends. so hes in my english class this year and i try not to...but i cant help but stare at him the whole period. hes kinda shy around people he doesnt know but he seems sweet. how do i get to know him better without making it all awkward?

Flirting is harmless fun. Maybe it's his way of being nice. It's when they take it further then that, that you have to worry about.
What I would do is this. Just ask him if he would like to hang-out with you sometime. Maybe get his phone number or give him yours if it's ok with your parents. Just take things nice and slow.
Or if your to shy, get your friend to ask him for you. :)
