AIM

Question Posted Monday November 7 2005, 8:52 pm

My AIM hasn't been working for 2 days. When I click on the little AIM guy to sign on, nothing happens for about 10 seconds, then the sign on screen flashes on the screen for like a half second and then goes away. I don't think it's a virus on my computer, because I already scanned it, and it does the same thing on my parent's computer which I don't use very often. Is this happening to anyone else? What should I do? I was considering deleting it, and downloading the newer version. Would that fix it? Please help. Thank you!!

I think you should either uninstall it and reinstall it or just delete it and install the newer version.

Just right click on the little guy, click sign on, and if that doesn't work, just delete it and download it again like you said. Hope i helped.

Thanks,
Jenna

Make sure it's up to date, first.

If that's the not the problem, uninstall then reinstall.

And if that still doesn't work, you might need a certain AIM virus detector. I have a link you can nuke it with: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

Go there, and just click "DOWNLOAD". It's 100% FREE. It downloads in SECONDS, AND it does NOT download ANY other crap with it, ya know??

Once it's downloaded, save it to your Desktop (just so it's easy to find), and run the program. It will kick you off AIM (for about 10-14 seconds), while it scans AIM for this virus.
Once deleted, you can sign right back on. It's SPECIFICALLY an **AIM** virus detector; meant to detect EVERY one!! I've used it before, and it always fixed my problem.

It does that too mine all the time. All you have to do is go on the internet, and click the one above the address bar. It simply means your computer is slow in the transition from logging in to the sign on part. Good luck!

Downloading and upgrading your AOL instant messenger would fix this. I had this problem also and once I upgraded my AIM, it worked and the problem went away.

schlichtinator answered Monday November 7 2005, 8:54 pm:
It should be the first thing you try; redownloading it or getting the newest version. If that doesn't fix it try surfing the AIM tech support pages.
