Cotillion -
Dancing/manners/etiquitte "school" that strives to teach children of pompously wealthy parents how to be, well... rich, elitist snobs that can dance really well and hold a fork properly.
That definition is from an eastern North Carolinian tomboy's standpoint.
I guess a more general definition would be a school of dance and the art of etiquitte, trying to preserve the "old" ways.
