I was really shy at first because I didn't know anyone, but eventually I made a ton of friends. Start conversations with people in your classes... i.e. I really like your shirt... or something along those lines. Be careful of rude upperclassmen. Don't trust people too easily, but don't be rigid either. Mostly, just be yourself, and you'll be fine. Public school is so much better than private school. And now she is in a public school. My greatest advice would be to get involved in your school, if your athletic join the volleyball, track, or cross country team. If youre out-going try drama or theater arts. My friend is doing absolutely fine, she is captain of the girls basketball team and made the volleyball team. And has a lead role in theater arts. Good luck and tell me how it works out. [ FuTuReRoCkStAr2205's advice column | Ask FuTuReRoCkStAr2205 A Question ]

It's a bit of a culture shock because you're not used to so many people. Also don't act like you still have your close-knit community in which you know everyone. You have to treat everyone like someone brand new, even if you have a class or two with them. Just take time to get to know people, don't just figure you know them because you have class together.
