I always try to go on a diet but I have a hard time staying commited so it never goes on past 3 days! Same with exercises too. How can I get over this and finally stick with it??
TLM answered Saturday October 15 2005, 9:06 pm: i know how that is. well like whenever you start craving like chocolate you could try munching on ice. thats wut i try and do it helps a lot. also you could hang a really bad picture of yourself to remind you of what you look like and then a skinnier picture of you to remind you of what you wanna look like on the fridge so that every time you go to the fridge youll most likely grab something healthy. for your exercises you could run around with some siblings or play with them. that always works. little kids always keep you busy. or you could try walking your pet. not only will it be good for you but your pet also. hope i helped! if you need any more help im me at T3RRI2010! buh bye!!! mpmsweetie answered Saturday October 15 2005, 11:17 am: well, i think that maybe if you have a funner diet, like one where they let you eat deserts (i have heard of them.) And dont over do exersise, that just hurts. Also if you diet is just "eat less", do one that is "eat healthy". That should help. [ mpmsweetie's advice column | Ask mpmsweetie A Question ]
Gloworm answered Saturday October 15 2005, 5:02 am: Just imagine what you would look lik with a tum as flat as Gwen Stephani's .you could also get your friends involved.maybe you could join a sports team or club.that way you will be more inclined to go if you will let your team down if you don't.As far as the eatig thing goes just think if your mom or dad etc. doesn't buy the fatty foods then they will not be there for you to eat, that way if you do want to get a little treat you can walk to the shop so you will be burning some calories along the way.if all this doesn't work then you could buy a trampoline (the most fun and easy way to get fit)
hope It all works out for you XxXxXxX

Mackenzie answered Friday October 14 2005, 11:30 pm: Truth is, diets don't always come easy to everyone. I think the key to healthy weight loss is 'everything in moderation'. Sure it seems like you're giving up so much, but think about what you will be gaining if you feel better about yourself!! I promise you: that's the best damned prize you'll EVER find.
An important thing to remember is that no one is going to do this FOR you, so now is the time to stand up and take total charge of your body. Some tips: just try to keep yourself busy, and sleep as often as possible. Those things keep your mind off of food.
Now, I know you didn't spefically ask for exercise suggestions, but I figure it couldn't hurt, so why not, right!? :D
Well, we'll start out with the obvious: exercise.
A few good activities that can simply assist in porportioning the body in it's ENTIRTY would be anything that gets the blood circulation goin', such as: jogging, jumping jacks, jumping rope, walking, and bicycle riding. Also, if you have access to a heated pool, water aerobics work like a charm!!
And if you'd like to target your tummie specifically, try doing a couple hundred sit ups or crunches. I know, I know, I know.. "a couple hundred' SEEMS like a lot, but if you break it up into sessions, it's not that difficult, really.
To tone your butt and thighs, do leg lifts. To do these, stand up straight, and slowly move your leg -ONLY YOUR LEG- backwards. Like, say you're going to kick something, but kick BARKWARDS, and DON'T BEND YOUR KNEES!! Make sense???
To tone your arms, take two dum bells [whatever weight works for you]. Put one in each arm, and stand up straight with your feet shoulder-width apart. Bring the dum bells up to your chest with your elbows folded out [like Tarzan pounding his chest-sort of motion, ya know?] Then at a MEDIUM speed... extend your arms out to the side, and slowly bring them back in. You can do two at a time to help balance the strength build up and toning, or do one at a time if it's easier. THIS DOES CUH-RRRRAZZIIEEEEEEE AMOUNTS OF MIRCALE!!!!!!!!!! If you do it for at least 20 minutes a day you'll see a GIGANTIC difference in a week, TOPS. I do them all the time; it's fun!!
Also, providing you cut out the EXTREMELY unhealthy foods, such as WHITE bread [substitute it with wheat], cake products, ice cream, hamburgers, and soda... [if you're used to consuming A LOT of it] you can see a significant amount of weight loss after the first two weeks, alone.
As you probably already know, it's best to eat several small portions a day; but this does not mean to "starve" yourself. Say, have an apple and a piece of cheese, two hours later have a few crakers, and an hour later have one piece of wheat toast, and so on and so forth, ya know??? And those are just some snack ideas. When it comes to solid meals, you don't really have to cut out much. Just take in moderation. Little intakes of food like that gives your body time to digest it properly. You see how that's better than eating one or two huge meals a day?? Because then it would take too long to catch up, and your body will not be able to burn the calories quick enough; so it just quits, turning into body fat.
I can't really say how long it will take; I suppose that differs from person to person. It really just depends on how much weight you're looking to shed. I'd say you could lose 10 to 20 pounds within the first month; that's very possible (seeing as how a good portion of that 10-20 pounds will be water weight).
At any rate, goodluck to you! Feel free to get ahold of me personally if you'd like any other information or opinions! I'd be happie to help where I can! :D [ Mackenzie's advice column | Ask Mackenzie A Question ]
