ask him before you break up if you did ever break up if you'd still be close. thats what i did with my boyfriend, cause i still love him, cause he's soo awesome but i dont want to be with him. my new boyfriend totally understands too.then tell your boyfriend why you want to break up and that maybe when you were older you could hang out more.
*i hope everything works out*

Tell him that you know its not his fault that hes getting grounded all the time, but it just makes you feel bad and really uncomfortable. Tell him you think its best if you just go on as "friends". That being bf/gf just isnt working out anymore. Say youre really sorry and you really want to stay friends w/him, and that youre here if ever he needs you.

Well breaking up and staying friends are two different things. Just do this.

"I'm breaking up with you because your step dad is a dick who keeps grounding your hindering you from spending time with me."

He'll then reply

"But why?"

Then probably say "I Love you" although he's just exaggeration the use of it because "I really really like you" doesn't fly too well in a relationship.

Then you'll say something like

"Because I'm a bitch who only wants you to spend time with me and no one else"

He'll then say

"Okay, can we still be friends?"

You say "yes"

And you're both friends.
