Say, "Those earrings are really cool, where'd you get them?" and "I love the way that shirt looks on you! I wish I could look that good in something like that!"

Or you can continue not talking. My friend and I don't talk much...we sort of communicate by looking at each other...yet, we love each other, get sick of each other, and then love each other again...just like normal talking-to-people friendships!!
