It's not babyish, that's what you're afraid of,and you react like that.Trust me,there are adults I know who react like you do,and it's not funny or abnormal.Just try to relax or listen to some music, read a book, talk to your parents or siblings about something...The best way to get over it is to keep your mind off of it.
Hope you find this advice helpful.

I was soooooooo scared of them from like 4th grade to like 6th. I used to watch the weather channel, and if it was going to be a severe storm, I would pretend I was sick so I didnt have to go to school. I just stopped watching the weather, and I started watching the storms and now I LOVE them, especially while Im trying to fall asleep. You are missing out by being scared. There is nothing more soothing than the sound of a storm. Just remind yourself that nothing can hurt you and that you have been through like a million, and you are still fine

I think that you need to realize that there is nothing in a thunderstorm that can hurt you. I used to freak out about them too, but then i just sat at my window and watched the rain fall. If you really think about it, it is just water falling from the sky and it can be extremely fun. Fear is just a mental thing that you can talk yourself out of.
