jump roping really helps footwork for tennis. you get down the footwork and soon you'll be all set.
uhh u should work on explosiveness too. for this you can do a lot of sprints, especially working on the start or the "explosion" of your run.
try doing progressions, which are starting from the sideline of the court and touching the first line of the court and coming back to where u started and continue to do every line of the court.. hard to explain with typing. theres a lot more drills i know but kinda tuff to explain over net.
hope i helped

I was on my high school tennis team from my sophomore year on and I was asst. coach to the JV team my Senior year. My advice to you, if you're already in decent shape and have a good endurance built up, the most important thing is to work on your footwork. I'm a bit clumsy so I caught myself falling over my feet a lot. You can have one person on the other side of the net throw or hit the ball to different places around the court. A good exercise to is to just run on your side of the court from the left to the right and back and front and to the back..,doing side steps and such. If you're endurance and footwork is up to par and you just need better work on your front hand and back hand...practice against a wall...it's great practice for technique and you don't need anyone else. My technique was always decent but my endurance sucked...I made up for it though by having a killer serve and great vollying skills. Practice your serve and try to make it as powerful and acurrate as possible. I was fortunate enough to have a great teacher. Good luck and have fun.

Well as long as you are fit, and are you a good volley player(come to the net). I tell you now, there's a coach that I know who likes to make the points as quick and short as possible. So if you can do that, then you're probably well off. Don't panick and don't override yourself with too much. Do your best and just don't overload. If you have skill , you have skill and there's a good possibility that you'll get onto the team. That's what practices are for too. You can go and learn to adapt. If it makes you feel any better, work with serves and angles at which you could hit the ball. Work on your weaknesses and if you can, turn them into your strengths. AYE, did yo see Federer and Agassi play. What did you think? Hope I was some help and have a nice day .
