You need to have a valid email address (as in no fakes) or you risk losing your account. This is more for your benefit than the website's.

Umm...

It would mean that if the email address you have listed on your account isn't valid that your account might be locked out? It is telling people to update their account information as an email verification system is beign put into place?

It just means that if you have bogus email info for your real email address in your account, well, you better change that.
