period and my medical program do not mix

Question Posted Wednesday September 7 2005, 10:34 pm

17/f/tx

Hello everyone, i have a bit of a problem. I entered a medical program in school and we travel to medical offices a few days a week. Problem is, we are prohibited to bring anything with us except for ourselves and we are gone for a good solid few hours. My question : how is one supposed to bring pads if they are on their period during this time? Any ideas?

If you're only there for a few hours then I think you can get away with just one pad. I mean, how many do you use within a few hours? Just put one in before you leave and change it right when you get back. If you don't like that, you could wear pants with those huge pockets that velcro or zipper and put some pads in there. Also there might be feminine hygeine vending machines...ahh, but you're probably not allowed to bring change, huh? Hm. Well I hope it works out for you.

You can easily fit a thinner-packaged pad in a back pocket of jeans or a front pocket of a hooded sweatshirt. You can always wear a jacket and put the pad in the pocket and "get hot" and have to take it off. If its like 100 degrees where you are (exaggeration) then wear jeans with a little bigger back pockets so you can fit a pad in there. I use Always Regulars and i can fit them in some of my jean back pockets easily. Good luck & have fun.

Ah, that's got to be awful. Try really big pockets. If you're comfortable wearing a tampon, do so and wear a pad also. Wear jeans with big pockets, or a lab coat / jacket with big pockets so you can easily put a pad there. Try talking to your teacher. If the teacher happens to be male, talk to the female with the highest status in the class and see what she can do. You could even try talking to the school nurse. If all else fails, you could be sick. Just joking.

Try to buy a thicker pad like the night time ones or ones for a heavy flow, then it could last you for the whole day!

Big pockets? Maybe you could get a jacket or lab coat with big pockets. Tampons would make it easy if you like them. If all else fails ask the teacher...please don't say teacher is a man! If he is, ask a female in charge and let her find out for you. A principle or guidance counselor...even a school nurse if you have one would be a good place to start. :)
