Question Posted Monday September 5 2005, 9:21 pm

I got my nails done (a full set) and they've grown out. I can't afford to get them filled or to go back to the place to get them removed. Last time, I tried tearing them off myself, but it took a week and they looked miserable. So is there anything cheap I can buy at that store that will take them off?

(And don't tell me nail polish remover, that does NOT work.).

Soak them in nail polish remover. You can buy a $1.00 bottle, and still have some left over. It's the easiest and ceepest thing to do!

Soak them in nail polish remover that has acetone in it. Then work them loose. Your nails are going to look weak and brittle no matter if you take them off yourself or have the salon do it for you. That's what stinks about acrylic nails.

Dipping your fingers in acetone will remove the fake nails. Instead of going to the nail salon to get them taken off, I do this. You can purchase acetone at a local pharmacy.

i know ya don't want to hear it but yes nail polish remover. It has to be accetone nail polish remover. and when you soak them it makes the acrylic get mushy and gooey and its wipes off. it takes a while to di it like that though. but it does work. Cause i go to cosmo school and we do nails up there so it does work. you can also take and file them down at the backs of the fake nail where your real nail is showing. and make it even with your nail and then polish it and wait for it to grow out more. you can pick ate them and chip them off and keep at it till you get it all off. or you can get a solution specially made to take off fake nails wherever you can get acrylic nails stuff. like at a sallys or at a salon. its usually no more then 10 bucks.

Yes, there is stuff that you can get.
Anywhere you can get fake nails, you can get fake nail remover. It'll cost anywhere from 4 to 8 dollars.
