Growth Plate

Question Posted Sunday August 28 2005, 11:59 pm

What is a growth plate? I might have hurt one in my wrist, and I just want to know what makes this different than just breaking your wrist.

well this is what i know from when i broke my hand...doctors are concerened about it when you break something b/c its not fully grown and if you dont wrap it and treat it right, it will grow wrong. (some people have to get it re-broken to start over...ouch.) hope that helps! <3

Basically a growth plate is a part of your bone that hasn't finished growing yet. They usually finish growing by the time you hit adulthood. If one is fractured in a certain way, it may interfere with growth. You can find more information at the links below.
