hi, i'm 15 yrs old..i have had the same boyfriend for about a year, and we recently started having sex. I dont know how to tell my mom that i need birth control...how can i break this to her?
shrink2be answered Sunday September 11 2005, 7:52 pm: you dont have to tell her if you dont want, you can get a friend to take you to the doctor so you can get the prescription, and insurance should cover the cost of it.
but you should tell her. if you are mature enough to have sex you should be mature enough to tell your mom that you dont want to have a baby at fifteen so you need protection. [ shrink2be's advice column | Ask shrink2be A Question ]

Maybe just say that you feel like you have an irregular period and if she takes you to the gynocologist, then let the dr. know, but that you dont want your mom to know. See how that goes. But if you can tell your mom & you think she will be cool with it, then just tell her. =) Good luck. [ BlackBeltxO's advice column | Ask BlackBeltxO A Question ]

Expect her to be upset. You are only fifteen, and you are still her child, living in her house and by her rules. If you stay calm and talk reasonably she will be probably be more open to the idea of you having sex and will help you get the protection you need.
