13/M
I'm a really late developer, so I'm still the shortest one in my grade; my voice is very soprano; and it just doesn't seem like I've been going through puberty yet. But I have, because I love this one girl. School starts in under a week, how can I make it look like I've been going through changes, like I'm taller, stronger, and have a deeper voice? Thanks!

I think it's funny when a guy starts to get a deeper voice or sometimes his voice is regular but then sometimes it's sqeaky. Listen, just be yourself and act natural, one thing that can help you though is your personality, i dont know you but most boys are very immature so that's why girls go out wth older guys mostly. So you can try to act a little more mature if your around her and girls. And if you really like her then just confront her and start a conversation when the time is right. If you really love a girl, and she loves you back, she shouldn't care about those little things. Don't worry that you are not "developed" yet, because boys physically mature slower than girls. So just be yourself.
TrustMe answered Wednesday August 24 2005, 1:26 pm: You're still only 13. girls mature and go through puberty much more early than guys. So right now, you're just where you need to be. Theres no way that you can fake being tall unless you wear platform shoes. (but don't wear those b/c then im almost positive that u would get picked on)And theres also no way to fake being strong. You just need to work out. You don't have to join a gym or anything, just life some weights everyday. And if you think that having a deeper voice will make this girl like you more, then just talk a little bit deeper. Now, just to let you know, being tall, or strong, or even having a deeper voice shouldn't matter. This girl shouldn't care about your appearence. All that matters is your personality. And if she doesn't like that, then forget about her b/c shes just not worth it b/c thats just being immature. Trust me, I would know. I'm a girl, and just 2 years older than you. I've been through all this before. Middle School is the hardest time of your life. Just be yourself and good luck! [ TrustMe's advice column | Ask TrustMe A Question ]

To look taller, practice good posture. That doesn't mean trying to stretch yourself. But stand straight, keep your shoulders back, and don't ever slouch or hang your head; be aware of the position of your spine and shoulders. Military men generally have that sort of posture, and even if you're short, it makes you look bigger and better.
There's no easy way to look stronger, other than to BE stronger. If you're that concerned about it, you should probably do some working out. I realize that you have less than a week, and you're not going to get much if anything in that little time, but a month or two down the road you should start to see a change in your appearance.
As for voice...did you know that before he became famous, Jack Nickolson's speaking voice was about an octave higher? An acting coach told him to lower it, and after that, of course, he became a huge star.
I'm not a voice coach, but as far as I know you should be able to get SOME positive results by making a conscious effort to relax your throat and chest muscles. Try to speak a little more softly, and slowly. Never push the "deep voice" thing - it'll sound fake. Voice pitch is affected by stress and tightness in your throat, so try to breathe and talk from deeper down in your chest.
And in general, try not to worry. You'll probably get bigger soon, but if not, there are lots of women who like shorter men. Personality is MUCH more important to most women than height or other physicial qualities. So relax, and be yourself.
