Everyone says you can get cute things in thrift stores. Do they mean ones like good will and salvation army? How do I know if it's a good one? Im looking for accessories by the way.
Teza answered Tuesday August 2 2005, 7:07 pm: You can get cute stuff anywhere but at those stores its just clothes that people donated. I wouldnt get any from there. I would just feel really weird. Thats just my opinion. But yeah you might find things that you like there. [ Teza's advice column | Ask Teza A Question ]

ncblondie answered Tuesday August 2 2005, 12:45 am: I get most of my clothes from thrift stores. For the most part they look brand new (I have found clothes with the tags still on them before.) and are much cheaper than buying them new. My wedding gown actually came from a thrift store. It had been wore once and was in perfect condition.
Goodwill and Salvation Army do have some good deals from time to time. Some churches and community organizations also run thrift stores.
I generally shop in the thrift stores that are clean, well-organized, have items in your size, and that are in a decent price range. Clothing that has minor stains or easily mended tears are fine but I would steer away from clothes that are extremely stained or in poor shape. Check around at the stores in your area to get a general idea of prices. [ ncblondie's advice column | Ask ncblondie A Question ]
DangerWench answered Monday August 1 2005, 11:58 pm: Yes, Goodwill and the Salvation Army stores are two popular examples of "thrift" stores. There are others, though it varies by location.
Thrift stores are completely random as to what they have in the store at any given time. This is because they rely on donations from people.
When people donate things, the things are cleaned, priced and put out in the store, for much cheaper than you can buy them in a regular store. And many times you can find things you like, that aren't even sold in stores anymore.
Sometimes the things are noticeably used, and sometimes they are brand new. That's the fun thing about thrift stores, you never know what you're going to find, and if you come back another time, they'll have some totally different stuff. :-) [ DangerWench's advice column | Ask DangerWench A Question ]
