Well if you know the coach talk to him or her about it. Just say you were thinking about going out for the team but you weren't sure if you'd be good enough. Coaches and teachers and stuff are a lot easier to talk to than ya think. But just practice a lot this summer, that way you'll improve even more and you'll have more skill and better chances. But the worst that can happen is getting cut. It happens to a lot of people. I don't remember who told me or who they were talking about. But some b-ball player thats is or was famous, well back in his day, he was cut during tryouts. He only made it his senior year, and that's when he was finally noticed by a scout who let him play college ball and then he went on to the pros. I really wish I could remember who it was, but still that might boost your confidence a little.
But you can talk to the coach, or anyone else, you have to practice and improve in at least one or two of the three, and then go to tryouts with your head held up, don't get cocky, make sure you're a team player, and try out for all three. That way if you don't make one at least you'll have a chance at another. And also, about being a team player, I know people who have gotten cut because though they were really good, they were ball hogs, and stuff like that. So play your best, but give others a chance to play theirs. And just show up and give it a shot, you have nothing to lose. Good luck!!
