If you make yourself feel like the other person that is asking the question, I'm sure you'll be able to give good advice to them. You could also think that the person that is asking for advice is one of your bestfriends. Then you'll be able to give them advice that is straight from the heart. But when you are giving advice on this site, try to think of everyone as your friend that you really need to help out and be honest with your advice.

FunnyCide answered Saturday July 9 2005, 10:52 pm: For some people, they're born naturally talented with giving advice to others. Some feel extreme pity or compassion on the other person's problems, so they reach out to comfort them. Others just practice, practice, practice. Still others are a combo of all three. Take your pick. But born with the natural talent for giving advice or not, or even a gift of compassion, you still need practice.

tasuki answered Saturday July 9 2005, 10:38 pm: You can't. You have to have instinct. And also patience. Right now, I don't have much patience, so I can't answer your question with a wonderful answer. I hope you take pity on me and rate me a 5 anyway. [ tasuki's advice column | Ask tasuki A Question ]
Mackenzie answered Saturday July 9 2005, 10:04 pm: I'm not shore if this was supposed to be asked directly to a specific user or not... but you get good at giving advice by placing yourself in the persons shoes. Think of what YOU would do.. and think of ALL of your options, and you list them all, letting the the person decide which works best for them. Be honest, yet sympathetic; it's difficult to give BAD advice, because you're simply listing possible solutions and your personal opinions. :) [ Mackenzie's advice column | Ask Mackenzie A Question ]
