A psychiatrist is someone who deals with the diagnosis and treatment of mental and emotional disorders. If you want to be a counselor you would probably major in psychology and/or counseling (if there is such a major). A counselor is someone who gives advice about problems, so helping people on this site would be a good start! I don't know what kind of grades you would have to have, but you should always try your best in school no matter what you want to be!
not_your_star34 answered Friday July 8 2005, 12:22 pm: A psychiatrist is a licensed doctor, meaning they have been to medical school and have a medical degree. A psychologist does not, but they have a PhD. in psychology. If you want to be a counselor, then you probably mean that you want to be psychologist. To be a psychologist, you usually need to major in Psychology and Sociology. Good grades in everything else help a lot, too, but you should be taking college prep courses (if you're in high school). I hope I helped, and if you have any more questions, feel free to leave one in my inbox!

I'm not quite positive on what your major would be, I would assume psychology. You might want to talk to your school advisor. And it never hurts to have the best grades possible for any major you want to go into. [ Draak's advice column | Ask Draak A Question ]
