Depo-Provera birth control

i've been on depo-provera (the birth control needle) for over three years now. i keep hearing horror stories about serious side effects it can have in the future. if you have any information about depo-provera let me know because although i adore the needle, i'll switch back to the pill if the needle is too dangerous.
