To be honest, I guess I'm "buddhist" but I've never actually been religious (Neither has my family). So I really don't know enough to tell you much, but I really suggest you look it up. Buddhism is how you spell it, so before you even think about converting at least know how to spell it correctly.

There are SO many websites that could give you lots of information. You just gotta start looking for them. Here are a few websites, I looked them up on google.

Don't listen to the other people below telling you not to convert. Your religion and your beliefs are completely up to you. Whether you convert or not should be your choice.

As for your mother, I'm sorry I don't have any ideas on how to tell her. Just tell her this is what you really want to do. Tell her if she loves you she will respect your decision and support you. Perhaps you can show her the good aspects of Buddhism and how it will make you a better person. Tell her it will be pointless anyway if you continue "worshiping" a religion you don't even believe in.

If my answer does not satisfy you...

It's an actual link =b

EDIT: Ugh. Thanks for giving a three...not. You say "thanks" and give me a three? You are very ungrateful. I would have rather gotten no rating from you.

i am buddhist, been so my entire life. i just wanted to say that ;]

i do agree with what the other person said, about how you want to convert to a religion you dont know enough about.. to learn more about buddhism, try going to the library and taking out books on buddhism, AND hinduism. i say hinduism too because buddhism started from that religion. and ofcourse, you can always google it and find stuff about it on the internet. find local buddhist temples, talk to monks. i know my religion well because my dad was a monk in cambodia. and i guess the only other way to know more is by talking to other buddhists.

and about your mom being christian, i went to a catholic high school and i am attending a catholic college, and catholics and christians are to respect other peoples religions even if its not their own. but before you speak to your mom about converting, just make sure you know all about buddhism and thats what you really want to do.

I don't care about ratings. I care about you and where you will be spending eternity. Being a true Christian means knowing Jesus, the Son of God, as Lord and Savior. To "convert" means you would have to be a Christian first. Do you know Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life? If so, my questions to you are: WHY do you want to convert? Do you actually want to turn from the source of truth that Christianity offers to a false religion? The fact that you say you want to convert to a religion you know nothing about, tells me you don't necessarily want a new religion, but rather you're looking to have a relationship with God. If that's true, you will only have that relationship with God through His Son Jesus. And you will only find that by being a Christian. Think about it.

Well, I myself am a Christian and Christianity is like the way to go. I know you're prolly like well, Buddism and bla bla bla and stuff about it and stuff but seriously, the only way you can get to heaven is through Jesus and thats through Christianity. So my advice: stay with christianity, its the way to go. Trust me.

I am curious. Why convert to a religion you know nothing about? I would think many buddist would actually be offended if you just up a decied to become buddist without knowing the religion or even thinking about what it means to you. I think it would be disrespectful to ANY religion. Before telling your mother you want to convert, spend a year teaching yourself the buddist religon, and other religions as well. Then you will have an informed, educated, and respectful view of religon you can share with your mother along with the reasons why you want to convert.

**Edit: You gave me a 1 for speaking the truth? I don't think you will make a very good buddist.
If you already know the answers you want to hear, then don't ask.
