Well, there are a few definitions:

sobering up, penance, austerity, voluntary suffering to vanquish impurities and to achieve the higher.

Tapas means devoting oneself single mindedly to spiritual practice and it is often translated as spiritual austerity or penance. When Shri Swamiji uses the term tapas, he usually refers to meditation in samadhi for at least twelve hours every day. He explains that such tapas is necessary if one wishes to attain God realization.

"Heat" or "fire." Denotes religious austerity, intense meditation, penance, bodily mortification or special observances. Connotes spiritual purification and transformation as a "fiery process" which "burns up" impurities, ego, illusions and past karmas that obstruct God-Realization.

Spanish appetizers that can also form an entire meal when many are ordered together. Tapas dishes are generally quite small and can be both simple (fresh olives served with cubes of ham) or elaborate (snails in a spicy sauce). When ordering tapas, it is best to combine a number of dishes together and allow everyone in your party to sample each dish.

Tapas are essentially snacks. In many regions of Spain they are often included in the price of drinks (beer, wine, not spirits) served in bars. In this case, they amount to as little as a few olives, a piece of cheese, etc. Bigger portions that are ordered to make up a meal are also called tapas. It is customary to share them. In lieu of dinner many Spaniards go out for tapas, the equivalent of "bar hopping" but instead eating tapas and having a copa at each bar.

Hope I helped! Well, hope the website i found helped lol.
