Do crunches help you lose weight? I normally do anywhere from 1000-3000 crunches a day. I eat healthy and i don't eat a lot because i want to lose 30lbs. thanks in advanced. i rate 5's for good answers
softballcatb answered Sunday June 12 2005, 1:32 pm: doing crunches helps build muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. dancing is better because that burns fat. Crunches=muscle, dancing=loosing weight/burning calories
ps send me an im at guardskluv

NO NO NO NO NO
here is why:
1)aerobic exercise (increased hear rate for a period of time) is the ONLY way to burn fat. Resistance training (weights) does help build muscle, which thus increases metabolism, thus HELPING burn fat.
2)eating actually helps with metabolism. Small meals throughout the day help. Skipping slows your metabolism down
3)Your body puts on weight proportionally, not just on your stomach. when you lose weight, you lose it all over your body. YOu never see a person with a fat arms and not fat legs. doesnt work that way. You can NOT spot-reduce (just lose weight in one area). So crunches will not help you lose fat in that area. They are an exercise to STRENGTHEN. they are a resistance training, like weights, used for only strengthening. To get those six pack abs..you have to lose the fat over top of them. with aerobic stuff
4)for total body fitness, do weights and aerobic exercise. this will help you lose weight.
xxBrOkEnxx answered Sunday June 12 2005, 1:18 pm: yes, crunches will help you lose weight but you might seem to gain weight on the weigher thing because you are transforming fat into muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. if you want to lose some more weight then you should run. that takes fat from everywhere. good luck [ xxBrOkEnxx's advice column | Ask xxBrOkEnxx A Question ]
LoveNJstyle answered Sunday June 12 2005, 1:14 pm: if you can do 1000 continuous crunches a day, they arent working you as heard as they should. try sit ups or doing crunches slowly (it works better) if that isnt enough, do some legs lifts. <3 [ LoveNJstyle's advice column | Ask LoveNJstyle A Question ]
