Good FoodS?

Question Posted Tuesday June 7 2005, 5:23 pm

I'm working out more, and I'm off sodas and sugar, but I want to know, what are some good or okay foods to eat for like, lunch, dinner that I could actually convince my mom to make for dinner or lunch? Also, what are some good or okay foods I can prepare and actually like for lunch? *btw, I get sick when I eat seafood, so I can't eat any type of fish.* I'Ll rate HigH! <3

lunch-
*turkey or ham sandwich made with wheat bread. Adding lettuce, cucumber, pickles, tomato, low-fat mayonaise, etc. is good.
*soup- preferably low-sodium
*salad- make sure you add some protein- cheese or cut-up lunch meat or chicken, and plenty of vitamin-rich veggies
*make your own mini-pizza- english muffin or pita bread, with pizza sauce and low-fat mozzerella cheese, veggies like peppers and olives, chicken, oregano

dinner-
*skinless chicken breast
*lean steak
*veggies- now that it's summer, grill your veggies, they taste really good that way!
*whole-wheat pasta and spaghetti sauce with fresh parmesan cheese
*stir-fry (veggies and teriaki sauce, meat optional, over rice)
*baked potato with fat free sour cream

snacks-
*yogurt
*fruit (lots of it! apples, grapes, strawberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, clementines)
*fruit juice popsicles, or crystal light popsicles for low-calorie
*light popcorn
*rice cakes
*sugar-free jello
*pretzels

Check out some cookbooks from your local library, and use them for ideas for low-fat, nutrient rich meals.

when dieting, lots of people eat lowfat cottage cheese and fruit. it might sound gross, but it fills you up and its VERY low in calories and carbs. in the morning, eat lots of protien (like meat) to keep you full during the day. make sure you eat a healthy dinner to avoid getting the munchies late at night

salads...you can have them anywhere and the only fat thing on it is the dressing. try stuff from weight watchers, they have all kinds of food that are ok for people on diets. <3

I've heard a lot of good things about angus beef and steaks.

Basically any red meat. If you drink the blood of the animal with it, it will give you the strength of the animal so you can work out better.
