I heard that the reason they did that (led zeppelin) was so that it would be pronounced did chya maker. I've always pronounced it dier maker but that's just me.

words that Americans end in an "a" or "ah" sound Brits will often end in an "er" sound... thus, "Jamaicker"
It is also a double-pun, meaning "did you make her?" I'll leave it to you to understand what they are referring to.
