Whenever I put eyeliner on, there's no affect. It just looks like I have black stuff all over my eye. Does anyone have any tips to put it on better? Thanks!

You might want to go with a liquid eyeliner- it gives you a thin, straight line that enhances your eye instead of a blotchy mess. Even though most people apply eyeliner to their top lashes by holding that eye closed, I always do it open because it shows you what other people will see. Remember to keep the pencil RIGHT on the base of your eyelashes so that it doesn't look like you have a random streak of black across your eye.
It'll look great! [ mapetiteodette's advice column | Ask mapetiteodette A Question ]

TiCkLeD_pInK540 answered Sunday May 22 2005, 2:57 pm: it depends what eyeliner you're using. twistable stick eyeliner generally have that effect you're talking about. i would suggest using liquid eyeliner, it's much smoother and won't smudge nearly as easily. as far as putting eyeliner on, i put my finger at the corner of my eye and pull (like when we were all kids and we'd make our eyes look chinese by pulling on the edges) i do that so it's a smoother line and isn't so rounded. as for the bottom you just kinda have to wing it, place it under the lashes, if you put it above then the eyeliner has a good change of getting into your eye. i hope i've helped.

Mackenzie answered Sunday May 22 2005, 2:52 pm: When it comes to liquid eyelineR oR pencil eyelineR, it's just a peRsonal pRefeRence. HoweveR, if you ask... chances aRe that most people will tell you that pencil is a betteR choice. It's a gReat staRt foR a beginneR who is just getting used to it. If you mess up, pencil is A WHOLE LOT easieR to clean up and Re-do than liquid would be. And if you plan on caRRying it aRound in a puRse oR pocket.. you also face a chance that the liquid may Ruin [though I don't suggest caRRying eyelineR in youR pocket]. And if you do mess it up, just take a tissue and slowly Run it along the Rim of youR eyelid.. it'll come Right up. Now, the desiRed effect of eyelineR is to cReate the illusion of daRkness just above the lashline to enhance the look of the lashes. To apply it, gently hold youR eyelid down, and staRt at the inneR paRt of the lid [closest to youR nose]. Then just simply dRaw a thin line smoothly and evenly along the uppeR lid, getting as close to the lashes as possible. Also, make shoRe you dRaw the line all the way to the outside coRneR. It will pRobably take some pRactice -- it took me a while at fiRst too... now I have it down incRedibly well. And now foR the pRoducts... peRsonally, I think the two best bRands of eyelineR out theRe aRe "MeRyl NoRman" and "Beautique". "MeRyl NoRman", which can only be puRchased at "The MeRyl NoRman Cosmetic Studios", is pRicey [typically $8.50 - $15.00], but it REALLY IS good stuff. It goes on wondeRfully, and stays on all day!!! On the otheR hand... I happen to think that "Beautique" is INCREDIBLE, howeveR, I've ONLY seen "Beautique" at "Sally's". And "Beautique" is only .99 cents. TRUST ME.. I would NEVER EVER EVER buy cRap make up!!! I get only the best, so please, please, please, please DON'T let this dollaR pRice thRow you off - you'd be cheating youRself out of the best pRoduct out theRe!! I'd *PREFER* "Beautique" out of ANY otheR bRand of eyelineR!! I could easily go out and buy a $15.00 pencil, but I'd RATHER get "Beautique"! "Beautique" glides on smoothly and REALLY LASTS ALLLLL DAY!!! I CAN NOT pRomote this item enough!! And if you still have doubts... foR only .99 cents.. it's woRth a shot!! Goodluck!! I hope I helped!! =D [ Mackenzie's advice column | Ask Mackenzie A Question ]
