My close friend needs help and I need help helping her

Ok I have a friend whos in college and she has a bad background with her parents. They dont like that shes going to Duke and that she wants to be a lawyer. Ok so she teamed up with a boy in her class and he stopped helping so she told him she'll do all the work he can slack off. Well he didnt take that well and he started calling her names and bringing up her past with family and now she cries and thinks he's right about all this. I need advice and fast please...
