Annoying notification pop up.

Question Posted Monday May 16 2005, 3:33 pm

This notification pop up is annoying the crap out of me. I keep clicking OK since there is no other option to choose from. It says "Run time error '26001':

Failed to set registry value Key: '-2147483646', Section, 'SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices',Key:'View Manager' to value: 'viewmgr.exe' Anyclue what the hell is going on? It keeps popping up and it won't go away. And by the way, I suck at computers. Thanks if you can help!

Hello there,

You have installed the Viewpoint Media Player on your system at some time or another to view the contents of a web page that required it. You may not have even been asked at the time, meaning that it was installed automatically in the backround.

Go to control panel, click "add/remove programs" and remove the viewpoint media player.

If you still have difficulty, please consult the following links.

You should also visit:

... for a free online virus scan.

... and download and run AdAware SE (free) to see what else is on your system that you didn't know about.

DangerNerd.

P.S. May I use your question in my blog?

Its either a virus, or a corrupted file.

Could possibly be ad/spy ware. Get your comp cleaned up. If it continues, its a corrupt file. If so, dont worry about it, your computer is find and operational from what im hearing, so dont worry.

Hey, I'm not sure what that is, but I think you can close it. Press Ctrl Alt Delete and the task manager comes up. Then click on the pop up thing, and click on End Task. If it still won't go away, it's probably a virus and you should get someone to fix it. Good luck! Hope I helped!

heyy .. well it looks like your computer has some type of virus in order to get rid of it you might want to get nortin anti virus if you dont already have it and click scan for virus once you open nortin anti virus up and to prevent maybe getting another virus get the google toolbar from [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) and there is a pop up blocker on there because sometimes you can get virus`s from pop-ups

hope i helped
