dry skin i think..

Question Posted Tuesday May 10 2005, 10:18 pm

I got an allergic reaction from copper on my stomach from a jeans button. So it got really itchy. Now the itching has gone away. But now I have discoloration on the spot and I'm pretty sure it's from dry skin. So is there any good lotions that you would reccomend for extremely dry skin?

no lotion.they might irritate it even more. use straight up vaseline. works all the time for dry hands, so it must work for dry bellies.

Try looking in your local chemists. They will have some medicated creams or tablets to help your skin go back to normal.

It is unlikely that it is dry skin. It sounds a lot like a nickel allergy. Nickel is in things such as the buttons on jeans and other clothes and belt buckles. I suggest you go to your doctor and ask if he/she can prescribe a cream for it. The cream wont make the allergy go away but it will clear up the rash. You will probably need to paint clear nail polish on the button on your jeans regularly as this will prevent you getting the rash in the first place. I have a nickel allergy and it comes back as soon as I wear a metal belt buckle. Try to avoid them or paint them with clear nail polish like I suggested.

Try getting Cetaphil. It's a scentless doctor reccommended moisturizing cream. It works really well for even the most severely damaged/dry skin.
