Question Posted Wednesday April 27 2005, 12:08 pm

I got highlights about 3-4 months ago. My mom said i can only get them done by the hairdressers every 6 months because its expensive. But it looks really bad now. Is there any product I can buy thats like a do-it-yourself highlighting kit?

I like to use the CLAIROL Herbal esscences highlights. They're easy, and they stay for a while. And you don't have to wear one of those pokey head caps.

I don't reccomend those, especially if you have dark hair. It might make it look worse, but there are products. Just go to the hair-type-section in a local drugstore, there will be stuff. Just take my warning, it's not as easy as it looks, lol. Hope I helped!

Herbel Essenses has a new highlighting kit out and I hear it works great. I don't know what it's called but you can find it in the hair coloring kit aisle at a store. It's not the expensive also.

It's a good idea to buy shampoos for color treated hair. Really any hair dyes can damage your hair. If I were you use lemon juice out in the sun or buy hair products with lemon juice that will give you natural highlights out in the sun. They don't have any chemicals. :-) Lemon Lights by John Frida is the best one out I know of. :-)
