Ok, I'm a little over weight. Does anyone have any ideas on what to do? I try doing sit-ups and push-ups every day but sometimes I don't get to. I've tried eating healthy but it doesn't work!! help
cohottie1092 answered Sunday April 3 2005, 11:17 pm: Drink water, and eat a salad before every meal. You will get a little bit full by the salad and not eat as much food all together. Every morning get up out of ur bed and do 10 push ups or sit ups or run in place for 1 min. It will help you get fit and you get a little bit of exercise even if you can't workout that day. So hope I've helped!

JazzY answered Sunday April 3 2005, 10:44 pm: Well, what kind of things are you eating? Are you also exercising while you eat healthy? Those things will help you lose weight too. You could also give up sweets for a month and then reward yourself with a treat like a candy bar or new pair of shoes or something like that.
You could also try doing Yoga, Tae Bo, or other exercise video things or something.
I hope I helped you out a bit! Good luck!

At first it will be hard because your probaly used to snacking all the time but just do something else like jogging, jumproping, etc. to keep your mind off of eating! Stick to the outsides of the grocerie store..(fruits and veggies!) Yogurt is my fav! As for the excersize.. try jogging, lifting weights, crunches, pushups, jump ropeing or walking. Hope i helped! esbeautiful1313 answered Sunday April 3 2005, 9:49 pm: First of all, before you go on any type of "diet" you should contact a doctor, or at least talk to a parent about it. If you then decide to diet, make sure it is not dangerous. A real diet is basically adapting a healthy lifestyle for good, not just for a month or to. You need to eat healthy foods like fruits & vegetables, and cold water is the best drink.
Whatever you do, never ever starve your self, becasue you could end up with an eating disorder called anorexia nervosa. Also, never "binge and purge" or eat alot and then throw it up, becasue this is an eating disorder called bulima. Both of those eating disorders can result in death, and are very dangerous.
If you are having trouble exercising, try dancing in your room for a little while, or running outside while listening to a walkman. It may be tough at first, so start with just a few minutes, then when you feel more confident you can proceed to work a little more.
Healthy Lifestyle Tips:
*drink atleast three bottles of diet iced green tea. green tea is a natural dieuretic-but the regular stuff (Turkey Hill brand) has at least 17+ grams of sugar. sugars are wasted calories. so drink the diet stuff. and dont try and substitute it with the regular iced tea....its full of calories and doesnt work the same way.
*Drink cold water. It makes you feel more full then room temperature water, and is more refreshing. Cold water is kind of like eating chips. Once you pop, the fun don't stop. And it makes you have to pee a lot, which flushes out extra water weight.
*Don't counteract all of your dieuretic liquid drinking process by chowing on anything even remotely salty. 2 teaspoons of salt can retain up to 4-6 pounds of water weight. Salty foods also increase your appetite and make you feel hungry.
*Stay away from sugars, salt, and lots of bread products, which are unnecessary carbs which put on extra weight. Stay away from fast food-its loaded with salt, fat, and calories, even seemingly healthy choices like chicken nuggets, or McDonald's salads.
*Alot of girls trying to lose weight drink obscene amounts of diet sodas. This might seem like a good idea, because it is the good taste of a sugary soda, sans the sugar. Unfortunately, carbonated drinks make you retain water, so if you are trying to get rid of some extra pounds, dont drink any soda. Replace with diet iced green tea.
*When you are trying to fight temptation of eating food that is bad for you or will make you gain weight in the long run, try and put it into perspective. 4 McDonald's quarter pounder burgers equals 1 pound of food. Even though your body does burn a majority of the substances that you put in your body, they are still calories. 4 Quarter Pounders a week equals 1 pound a week. Thats nearly 5 pounds in a month. So stay away from them. Try and put all your food choices into perspective like this. And try and imagine foods like a bag of doritos or a burger or a muffin stuck to your hips or stomach... because thats right where it goes to. Also, stay away from what seems like "healthy foods" like cheese, dairy products, crackers, and peanut butter, juices/smoothies/gourmet coffee drinks...they are filled with hidden calories and sugar.
*Don't skimp on sleep. Try and get at least 7-8 hours a night and try and go to bed at the same time every night. Suprisingly, your body does the majority of its calorie burning (besides during a workout) during its sleep cycles, and sleep also keeps you refreshed, ready to go, and gives you enough energy to workout and pay attention to your food choices. You feel less sluggish and more alert to what you put in your body. It also keeps your skin looking fresh and nice and helps your nails and hair grow healthily. Overall beauty is the goal here.
*Drink a lot of black coffee (if you dont like black coffee try tea or coffee with fat free creamer and a sugar subsititute like sweet n low)-it is virtually calorie-free and is full of caffiene...keeps you awake and energized to work out and pay attention to your body.
*If you hate cardio, like i do, try and do a low intensity work out like yoga or pilates (pilates is your best option, especially with the new aerobics pilates that are out now) or walking briskly outside. you might have to do it longer to burn the same amount of calories, but in the end, its a less exhausting workout.
*Remember, running, hiking, biking, and swimming are all your best calorie burning cardio options. If you want to burn maximum calories or do it in faster time, choose one of these.
*When feelings of boredom or hunger come on and you've already past your maximum calorie allowance or are hungry for an unhealthy food, try to busy yourself with something like cleaning, organizing, or shopping (stay away from mall food courts!!)..it will take your mind off of it, and doing these things also burns calories! Don't sit in front of the tv or talk on the phone-these are things that you can do two things at once during, and you are likely to want to pick up a snack.
*Lastly, remember that you made a promise to yourself and a commitment to your health, appearance, and body. If it helps, write your goal down and keep it somewhere safe (and private! this is a private battle-peering eyes only make the process more difficult and embarassing!) and accesible. This is a battle and a process, and will take some time. When you feel like you're not getting anywhere, push harder. No body ever got anywhere by giving up. And most importantly, remember the outcome of your goal when accomplished-love for your body and complete hapiness with yourself. Remember, you must love yourself first to love someone else. This tends to work best from the outside in. Don't give up. You have the strength and the drive and motivation in you. You deserve this. Karen answered Sunday April 3 2005, 8:41 pm: Sweetie, it takes a while for all of these things that you are doing to fall into place. Losing weight can take months so you shouldn't expect results in days. Try increasing the number of sit ups and push ups each time you do them. Crunches are better than sit ups. Try eating low carb and calorie foods and if you eat healthy for a long time, then you will eventually see results. Think positive from now on because you will lose weight if you try and not think negative when you still can't see results. [ Karen's advice column | Ask Karen A Question ]
