Help me and 140 families keep thier homes We all live in Soutern Utah in a mobile home park. 140 families who live here many of whom are disabled and/or on fixed incomes. Many of us have mobile homes that are on a foundation. A greedy land owner has bought this property and has imposed a 79.5% rent increase that a lot of us just can't make. we have approx. 1 month to figure out what to do. No one here seems to have an answer. This man is known to buy land which he in turn drives people out, then developes it.WHAT CAN WE DO? If anything please let us know. Thank You for your time.

Hello there,
A few notes that may be of service:
If he does this regularly, and you aren't the first... Then he knows what he is doing. He is NOT going to make a deal with you that he will not raise the rent if you get 5,000 signatures.
I am surprised that nobody has mentioned going to the news media. Make noise about this to every single radio & tv station, and don't forget the newspapers all over your state.
You need to find out if this guy is a member of the Mormon church. If he is, you can appeal to the elders of the church for help. They can kick him out of the church for something like this, but it is likely that they will not unless there is at least one mormon family in your park.
If you pay the increased rent, and he still wants to develop the land, he will continue to raise it until nobody is left to fight.
Call the ACLU and see what they can do to help you. If you have a large percentage of a certain ethnic group, you might also try appealing to a group which represents them for assistance.
Eventually, no matter what he will probably try to develop the land. Getting as many people on your side as possible will help.

Sorry to repeat giving you what others have suggested, but the only thing I can think of is a petition or going to like City Hall and trying to fight it. I really feel badly and I wish I could help you out more, but I hope everything pulls through for you! If you need to talk, just message me! ♥ ]
hmm this is a hard one.. i would say maybe you should go to the town or municiple building and talk about this, because this is not fair at all. I agree with you 100% that you absolutly need to do something. I would say that your best bet is to go to town hall or what ever building runs the town. sorry i couldnt help you more ]
I have to agree, a petition is the only thing I could think of. Good luck! I hope it all works out!

Start a petition. www.petitiononline.com !! Their free and they really work! And get people to sign it around your trailor park and get people online to sign it too. then when you think you have enough signatures, give it to him! but first, before you even start the petition..make a deal..5,000 signatures and you cant raise the rent. stuff like that! good luck! ]
