im 13/f and i started puberty when i was 12 but i havent yet started my periods! im vegitarian and very picky eater i an very under wieght and dont eat much, i read some where that being underwieght can stop or delay your periods. is this true? and is this whats rong with me?

Be glad you don't have to deal with that mess yet! All jokes aside, what you read is true. I pulled up a quote for you from WebMD: "One possible reason behind the sexual maturity/overweight link is that a certain amount of body fat is needed for the onset of menstruation. Fat is one source of estrogen production. Thus, heavier girls mature earlier." It discusses just the opposite of your issue - why overweight girls get their periods earlier. So, your being underweight is more than likely delaying the onset of your cycle. I'm not a medical doctor, however, so please talk to your family doctor with any further concerns. Another key thing to look at is the age your mother started her period. Mothers and daughters seem to start around the same age. My mom at age 11, me at 12. In the meantime, make sure your nutrition is up to par. You can be a vegetarian and still be within your ideal weight range. Thanks for asking for my advice!
