I actually found hurdles pretty easy, I'm just a stocky person and not built for running very fast. I think that I found them easy because of the karate I have taken. All those kicks keep my leg, hip, and groin muscles very limber. I recommend that you do stretches and excercises for those areas of your body. The same goes for your neck. Stretch your neck out throroughly before beginning any strenuous activity. Make sure you aren't clenching your jaw when you excercise. A lot of people do this and it can lead to headaches and neck pain. Also, in regards to hurdles, I'm sure your coaches already told you, but make sure you aren't jumping too high. The closer you are to the hurdles without contacting them, the better. It will help your speed. Good luck! [ MoonFisher's advice column | Ask MoonFisher A Question ]

Start with your head down and slowly roll your neck all around to the head down position. Don't slow down when you get to the hurdle it makes your time longer. practice your footing alot!Know how many steps until the hurdle so you can anticipate how long it will take to vlear it! Also do hurdle stretches. (one leg bent in hurdle postion on the floor then lay back) stay there until it burns! Hope I helped [ ktsu0723's advice column | Ask ktsu0723 A Question ]
teengoddess12 answered Tuesday March 8 2005, 9:57 pm: you should probably stretch a lot. stretching will help with your neck and make you more flexible to get your form right and jump higher. doing jumping jacks, and jumping rope will help your verticle jump. basically, almost anything you do will help. good luck! always here,
