knitting question
IF substituting yarn for a pattern requires using 1 size smaller knitting needles to achieve the correct guage will the end result be that more, less or the same amount of yarn be needed?

I believe that you would need more yarn if you had smaller needles. The smaller the needles, the smaller the stich and the smaller the stitch, the less yarn used. Good muck with whatever ur making tho!
