What do you do if your friend tells you to find someone new, because they like the same person you do and say they like them back? I believe it to be a bit harsh. If your friend cared for you, wouldn't they just leave it alone instead of saying something like that?

I hate this situation that you're in. This must smurf! Wow.. I think it's very harsh, and rude. Yeah, if your friend cared for you, they'd probably leave it alone, and just say, "hey, I like that person too, that's cool. Just remember that..". I know this is sortof weird, but I've been in a similar situation before. If your friend doesn't care that you have feelings for this person too, then you should speak with them. Tell them gently that you like this person too, and that you respect their feelings, but they should respect yours too. (I know that was sortof confusing..) And if that doesn't work, (and I hate saying this..) you need to find a more loyal and true friend. (that doesn't mean completely ditch your friend, just keep the "doors open" for new friends to come into) Remember: You do not have to listen to your friend when they say you've got to find a new person 'cause they like the same person as you. YOU do not answer to THEM. You answer to GOD. Pray about your situation, take it to the head man. Ask for wisdom and guidence. And if you like this person, dude, be friends with them!! I hate that you're in this mess.. it stinks. Talk to your friend and God!!
