Like distance: If you can run 1/2 mile, run that will you can do it easily, then move up to 3/4 mile, then 1 mile, and so on. [ fireant30's advice column | Ask fireant30 A Question ]
xOCarrie answered Sunday February 13 2005, 4:55 pm: Try conditioning yourself to become prepared for track. Start off by walking around your neighborhood or something for like 20 min every few days, then work your way up to jogging, then running exc. feverdancer03 answered Sunday February 13 2005, 4:14 pm: Well first of all, you can see if you have a local gym. Start working out. Try running on the tredmill as long as you can. Do other things like that bicice thing, etc. Do some muscle training in your legs. Also run outside whenever you can. Time yourslf. Run as far as you can withought stopping and see how long that was. Then the next time you run, try to run an extra 30 seconds. Everytime you run try and run a little more and more. After a while you will be able to run a farther distance in less time. Also, for track, you dont have to only run. Theres long jump, the thing were you throw a ball...whatever. Also you can do sprint running, where theres not a long distance. Hope i helped! BeautifulMadness answered Sunday February 13 2005, 4:10 pm: Start off by walking briskly for ten or twenty minutes a day, and once you start finding that easy (i.e. you're not out of breath at any point), try walking briskly uphill. Professional runners train by running uphill so that when they come to run on a track, they find it a lot easier. Work your way up to jogging uphill (it doesn't have to be an actual hill - a steeply sloped road will do) - start by cycling if the jogging is too hard - and eventually run (it can be slowly if you want) up! This might take you quite a while to accomplish though, so be patient and remember you'll get there eventually!!
Blessed Be,

Karen answered Sunday February 13 2005, 4:03 pm: Start doing leg exercises such as lunges, squats, and leg lifts. That will tone up your legs. To do track, you need to run because that's what track is about. Do you think you can jog on a treadmill? If you think you can, then start doing that. Start jogging and then start to run; you will be able to run. If you always stop when you run, bring water with you. Hope I helped :)
