I have two brothers in the Air Force, and they have been to the war twice now. We are not the kind of huggy lovey brothers, but I made sure to let them know How I felt about them, and that we would pray for them. Thank god they made it back OK. I feel very proud that they serve our country and they have earned my respect a thousand times over. I am a father of four, just tell your dad you love him and your proud of him, It will be enough. A fathers love is unconditional and travels in many ways and forms. Just tell him and he wont forget.

Well if you father is going to Iraw then you want to spend as much time with him as possible because this might be the last time you will see him before he leaves. you could probably go to sports events together or watch movies. Just try doing anything you can with him. kk if any more problems im me on XoLeanne13

Try to break the ice. Ask him a question he will be able to elaborate on. Before he leaves make sure you tell him you love him.

My dad and I dont connect very much either... and he's gone A LOT! But even though thats true, I dont know what I'd do without him! I love him with all my heart and I'm sure you feel the same about your dad. To get closer you should try to see what he's into. Even if you dont like the sound of what he says, TRY IT! You may end up liking it! And once he sees that you are putting in the effort to get closer even though its not what you usually like... he'll realize it! And probably he'll do stuff YOU like later! I hope everything is wonderful!!!!
