paranoid friend
Dear DruidX,
I have this friend who is incredibly paranoid, particularly about me likeing his girlfriend or his girlfriend liking me. I;ve assured him this is not the case, and so has his girlfriend, and it causes him deep psychological trauma to see us in the same room even talking now. And I was talking to his girlfriend, and he walks into the room, and I make a joke about only wanting a pen, and he takes it as an insult, and now won't talk to me. He refuses to be my friend anymore, and threatened my teeth!...I have no idea what to do....please help me!!

Well, it seems like your freind won't listen to reason, so this could make explaining the situation to him very difficult as he's not likley to belive anything you say. If I were you, I would issue him an ultimatum: unless he stops being silly and stops this paranoia then you won't be his friend any more. Hopefully this should make him calm down sufficently to explain things to him.
Alternatively you could get the girlfriend to try talking to him.
This guy sounds like he could do with a reality check, and the only way I think this will happen is if he gets a verbal slap from you. It's not a nice way to deal with the situation, but I dobut he would resopnd to reason.
