eBay is eVil

Question Posted Sunday December 19 2004, 9:14 am

So, awhile back I was doing a project for health class where I needed to find the price of baby strollers and I went to google to look them up. One of the first links I clicked on was ebay, but I immediately clicked out of it because we weren't allowed to buy used items. Since then, words on Spacefem and Livejournal have been underlined, and upon clicking them I get sent to an ebay site for that particular item. (Ex: my friend got "New Shoes" and they were underlined in her livejournal, when I clicked on it, there was a section for shoes.) I'm also experiencing random popups that have to do wtih the site I'm browsing, but I have a popup-blocker, so this shouldn't happen, and they're on sites I've never had popups on before said popup-blocker was installed. Most of these sites lead back to ebay. So..has anyone experienced this before, and if so, how did you get rid of it? I think it's making my connection slower as well, so though I can live with it, I'd like to get it fixed.

sounds like you have spyware. i dont know wut it duz exactly, but i had it before on my computer. you should get rid of it ASAP cuz it's not good for your computer, plus it gets annoying. my computer got real messed up cuz of it, and i had to have my whole thing taken apart and cleaned of viruses. get spybot or spysweep, they work real good, you can jus download them, but i dont have the website. luv britt *muah*

You have adware and/or spyware, but that kind of stuff does not come from e-bay. You need to download Ad-aware SE and run it about once a week.
go to [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) and download the personal edition.

It's probably not Ebay. It sounds like Spyware. You can get it from downloading free stuff. If you've downloaded this stuff, then you probably need someone who's really good with computers to get rid of it. Good luck!
Hope I helped!

I've had this same exact problem before. I'm almost certain it's adware. Try SpyBot or SpySweeper, it works well for deleting it!

Talk to your parents. Maybe they could contact the company. If the company does nothing, you should probably switch to another company. I have sbc yahoo dsl, and none of that has ever happened to me or anyone in my family. We get one or two every six months, which is alright. As for the links, maybe don't click on it. Unfortunately, I don't think there is anything you can do about those. Your friends post things that lead to eBay, and you can't control that. Oh, and about the popups, maybe that site has more popups and you shouldn't be there. Hope I helped.

Well to me, it sounds like you have adware or spyware on your computer! At this moment, I'm using Ad-Aware and it's free and it has helped me a lot! You could also download Yahoo! Toolbar that has a pop-up blocker and anti-spy! You could also delete everything from your computer and start it back up like how it was when you first got it! Make sure that you save all your files to a disk! Hope I helped :)

Sounds like you have adware. I would suggest downloading Ad-aware or Spybot Search & Destroy. Both are free to use and are safe to download. Once you download one of them, run the program. It will scan your system like a virus scanner and tells you what malware, spyware, adware yolu have on your machine and then gives you the chance to delete the bad stuff.

Good luck.
