I have a problem. It seems like I get nervous for everything! In track, I get extremely nervous before an event. In school, I get so nervous to take tests and do oral skits. Is there anything I can do to help? Thanks

I get so nervous in Basketball, Volleyball, or in track. i start shaking, especially in a home game. I feel like their all expecting something from me. But i think i got kind of better about it, i figure hey! If anyone says anything about it i can just be like, "well i didnt see you out there playing!". If you get so nervous though to the point of throwing up or crying etc. then there is some medication you can take. I wouldnt suggest any medication because it can mess with your liver, but if thats the last resort. But also try blocking out everything. Try only focusing on what your doing, pretend no one else is there. Pretend your just practicing in front of a mirror at your house in your room, (or where ever you do practice) and just block everything.
Hope i helped!

Erinn_the_bamf answered Saturday December 11 2004, 11:29 am: Try some deep breathing. Also counting to ten slowly helps. Maybe set up a "less stress" type thing (I did that in girl scouts lol). Try putting like poperi (idk how 2 spell it) or something like that in it. After a stressful day try spelling candels. Or maybe go to a spa sometimes! I hope I helped! lilangl1113 answered Saturday December 11 2004, 3:28 am: Well what you can do is take deep breathes before you are about to do something you know will take confidence. It will help relax you and calm your heart down. Another thing to do is stretch. Stretching can be very relaxing and will make you a lot calmer. Believe me and try it. I do a lot of dramas and have had a lot of experience with this sort of stuff. I hope I helped you, and good luck! :) [ lilangl1113's advice column | Ask lilangl1113 A Question ]
PerkyPeacock answered Saturday December 11 2004, 12:39 am: best i can think of is to be prepared for it, so that way there's fewer doubts on your mind. and remind yourself that you can do whatever you set your mind to. and all that. [ PerkyPeacock's advice column | Ask PerkyPeacock A Question ]
gibson123 answered Friday December 10 2004, 7:25 pm: all you have to ask yourself is what you are nervous about. then just be like why am i so nervous about this, but getting nervous about taking a test or a track meet is TOTALLY normal, i mean i have a friend who throws up before every track meet [ gibson123's advice column | Ask gibson123 A Question ]
jpepreppie answered Friday December 10 2004, 7:22 pm: well first off, do yopu practice? maybe you can practice more. Just think of it as a freebie test or event. Just think extra credit if you can get these right. You already have 100%. hope that helps.
short2lil2blondie answered Friday December 10 2004, 7:16 pm: jsut try not to think about a bad rgade or anything like that and track events jsut pretend theres something you really want on the other side , so you have to ither run, jump, or pole volt or w/e else is in track...
julia answered Friday December 10 2004, 6:10 pm: It's normal to get nervous! I always am- i do track to and i get extremely nervous b4 event long distances, sprints, or field events. And you dont want to fail a test- so study, study, STUDY.
prairedawn answered Friday December 10 2004, 5:55 pm: What are you nervous about? I mean, if you screw up is it really going to affect you that much. Embarassing moments end eventually and you get over them. Just tell yourself that it's going to be completey fine and pretend that it isn't even a big deal at all. Just remember that there are a lot of worse things in life and this one thing is not going to ruin the rest of your life. [ prairedawn's advice column | Ask prairedawn A Question ]
