I USE VLOOKUP TO COMPARE DATA I.E CHEQUE NUMBER AND AMOUNT BUT WHEN THE DATA CONTAINS DUPLICATE CHEQUE NUMBERS OF VARIOUS AMOUNTS V LOOKUP TAKES THE FIRST AMOUNT IN ALL THE DUPLIICATE CHEQUE NUMBERS.... IS THERE ANY SOLUTION TO AVOID THIS AS IT WILL SAVE TIME.... AND SECONDLY I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO EDIT A MACRO

Well it would help if you said what programe you are using to do this, but I would guess MS Excel.

While googling I found several pages relating to Macro writing/ editing tutorials. I used the search string 'edit a macro tutorial' in google.

As for the other thing I'm not sure how one would do that, but again, google something like 'VLookup excel tutorial' and you should find something you can use.
