Period / Birth Control

Question Posted Wednesday September 22 2004, 5:38 pm

15/f
I've had my period since i was 10. meaning it should be on a regular cycle by now. DONT TELL ME THAT ITS NORMAL, because i've had it for five years. and just this year it started becoming irregular. like i'd get it every 21 days, sometimes 19 days and sometimes every 2 WEEKS. i get it way too soon. well my mom asked her gyno and he said well thats normal for it to be irregular but if it gets worse we can do something about it.

so my question is, i heard they put you on birth control? fine. but why birth control? what does birth control do. because i'm a catholic and i kind of dont believe in birth control but i guess if it's needed for my period then its okay. someone explain what birth control does.

birth control regulates your hormones so that when you take the inactive pills it allows your body to have your period. Your taking hormones so they work with your body kinda like making it think its pregnant so it go into "period mode" until you go to the inactive pills.

Birth control regulates the flow of female hormones in the body, so it means that when you come off for the 7 day period, the control effect is temporarily lost so you can have your period. I take the pills so I have my period every 21 days [as one's cycle lasts for 28 days], but I don't know how it works on other methods.

I would get your doctor to give you a better description of what it does, and talk to your doctor about you belifes, as maybe s/he could find another way.

Simple, it controls birth. It controls the penis from pushing up agianst the wall of your vagina and causing blood flow. In this case, it will slow your period down.

Good luck!
